Why Squirrels?
Because squirrels are awesome. Everyone knows that!
Are you owned by Amazon or Barnes and Noble?
No. We are an independent family owned bookstore.
We sell books on Amazon and Biblo as well as directly and of course in our brick and mortar storefront.
Do you buy used books?
No. If you want to donate your books, we'll be happy to find them good homes and give you 25% off coupons good for the used book purchases in the store. For avid readers the coupons work out to be a better deal.
Do you appraise books?
Yes. As a service to our customers, our book guru Carolyn Sweeney is happy to appraise your used treasures free of charge. But, she limits appraisals to Tuesdays only and asks that you phone ahead for availability. Also, we ask that you limit the number of books to be appraised to no more than 3 in a visit.
Do you take book donations from libraries?
Yes. We will be happy to pickup your library's excess books. Contact us for a pickup.
Do you offer curbside pickup for the immune challenged?
Yes. On direct orders we offer In-Store and curbside pickup, local deliveries and of course world-wide shipping.
What is Bookshop.org ?
Bookshop.org is an organization who's mission it is to "To help local, independent bookstores thrive in the age of ecommerce."
They do that by selling new books on their website which is promoted by independant book stores who get percentage of their profits. They work directly with distributors so small bookstores can offer a wider range of new books that they normally couldn't afford to keep in stock. Win. Win.

Are you affiliated with "Squirrel Away Books" of Loveland, Colorado?
No. While the nice squirrels of Colorado are no doubt distant cousins, Squirreled Away Books of Armada, Michigan is not directly affiliated with them.
Is your store wheelchair enabled?
Yes. The parking lot behind the store has an extra wide handicap parking spot and our back entrance has a very slight ramp that many of our mobility challenged patrons use regularly. Unfortunately, our bathroom, which is available for our customers, is not wheelchair friendly and is rather narrow.
